Family Maintenance Units

Type of service: Case management and direct service

Target clients: Intact families

Length: One year maximum

Contact: Social worker visits at least monthly

Goal: Remedy identified risks to children

Services provided:

Individualized case plans, Team Decision Meetings, support, and referrals to community providers of substance abuse treatment, counseling for sexual abuse, domestic violence, behavioral problems of children, parenting, etc.

Types of Family Maintenance Cases:

  1. Voluntary contract cases:

Families who have been identified as "at risk" through a CPS investigation agree to complete a case plan for a minimum of 90 days and a maximum of 1 year.

  1. Court ordered cases:

The children are Court dependents allowed to remain in the home under specific conditions while the parents complete required programs.

Family Unification Program (FUP)

A collaboration with the Housing Authority of Stanislaus County, the FUP program helps 140 families obtain Section 8 rental assistance in cases where a lack of housing would result in:

  1. Imminent placement of the child/children

  2. Delay the return of children in out of home care to their families
